چکیده

Abstract It is well known that the surface topography of a part can affect its mechanical performance, which typical in additive manufacturing. In this context, we report about modification manufactured components made Titanium 64 (Ti64) and Scalmalloy ® , using pulsed laser, with aim reducing their roughness. our experiments, nanosecond-pulsed infrared laser source variable pulse durations between 8 200 ns was applied. The impact varying large number parameters on quality smoothed areas investigated. results demonstrated reduction roughness Sa by more than 80% for 65% samples. This allows to extend applicability beyond current state art break new ground application various industrial applications such as aerospace.

Laser beam welding of titanium additive manufactured parts

In this paper the joinability of titanium Additive Manufactured (AM) parts is explored. Keyhole welding, using a pulsed laser beam, of conventionally produced parts is compared to AM parts. Metal AM parts are notorious for having remaining porosities and other non-isotropic properties due to the layered manufacturing process. This study shows that due to these deficiencies more energy per unit ...

Nanostructuring of thin films by ns pulsed laser interference

We show that nanosecond pulsed laser interference can be used to structure surfaces on a nanoscale. With this method, we are able to create hollow structures on various thin films like Ta, Ni, Au, Cu, Co, and NiTi. We find that the structuring mechanism is related to the mechanical effect of thermal expansion upon melting. To corroborate this model, we study materials with an abnormal behavior ...

Comparison of Laser-Engraved Hole Properties between Cold-Rolled and Laser Additive Manufactured Stainless Steel Sheets

Laser drilling and laser engraving are common manufacturing processes that are found in many applications. With the continuous progress of additive manufacturing (3D printing), these processes can now be applied to the materials used in 3D printing. However, there is a lack of knowledge about how these new materials behave when processed or machined. In this study, sheets of 316L stainless stee...

Characterization of Additive Manufactured Objects

Hybrid Layered Manufacturing (HLM) combines the benefits of both subtractive and Additive Manufacturing (AM). In this paper authors did characterization of AM components by using Kernel Average Misorientation (KAM), Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) and hardness tester. The main focus is on matrix integrity during Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) deposition and surface quality during machinin...

Printing Three-Dimensional Electrical Traces in Additive Manufactured Parts for Injection of Low Melting Temperature Metals

While techniques exist for the rapid prototyping of mechanical and electrical components separately, this paper describes a method where commercial additive manufacturing (AM) techniques can be used to concurrently construct the mechanical structure and electronic circuits in a robotic or mechatronic system. The technique involves printing hollow channels within 3D printed parts that are then f...
